"When I was a kid, I didn't have an amp for a long time, so I'd sit and play my electric guitar and imagine what it sounded like.

Once I was older and able to buy gear, I always tried to use the best equipment I could get. In the MORE PHOTOS section you can see how my set-up evolved.

When other guys were using Marshall stacks, I began using smaller amps and sounded better. I was using handmade Boogie amps in the mid-70s, and then moved to Pearce and Soldano.

So even though I learned how to make not-so-great gear sound good, I also learned how to make myself sound the best with great gear.

Many of the people on this page I have worked with directly over the years. Some of them are good friends, and all of them are great at what they do. Even the smallest things make a difference. Like picks. I use all kinds of picks because different picks make me play differently.

So please check out some of these people and see what they are doing. And go out and find the stuff that makes you different. Don't use the same stuff your buddy uses - find what makes you sound like YOU."
